Ermita Bar Girls

For many years this rivaled Bangkok as a major bikini bar destination with maybe more than 200 bars located in and around M.H.Del Pilar and Mabini streets.  In the early 90s a retired police general called Mr. Lim became Mayor and had other plans for Ermita and proceeded to close all the bars turning the area into a depressed slum and ghost two for the following decade.  During this time there were more street whores than ever before as girls could not find a safe place to work.  Ermita had a lot of infrastructure for tourists including many hotels, money changes and restaurants.   Over time a 24 hour restaurant called LA Café evolved into a popular place for freelance girls to meet mainly foreigners.  This model was very successful and copied by a few other places around Ermita.  A few bikini bars made a brief resurgence a few years ago but amazingly Mr. Lim recently became Mayor again and they are now closed or changed in format.  The bottom line is your will not find any bikini bars in Ermita but there are hundreds if not thousands of freelance girls in the area working as prostitutes.  See Ermita bars for more information.

Pasay City Bar Girls

After the closure of the bikini bars in Ermita in the early 90s many of the bar owners transferred to other locations.  Some to Angeles city and even Cebu city.   A number of the bar owners relocated to Pasay city where they set up the EDSA International Entertainment Complex.  There are up to about a dozen bars (things are always changing)  there and many have as many as 50 to 100 dances plus lots of GROs  (Guest Relation Officer) who do not dance but can be taken out.  The locals jokingly say GRO means Girls Rent Overnight.  You will see some stunners but in general the girls tend to be a little older and what many would call average looking when compared to some other alternatives.

Makati Bar Girls

Lots of bikini bars situated in and around Burgos Street but be warned this is not a cheap place in comparison to other places in the Philippines.  An inexperienced tourist with lots of dollars in his pocket on his first trip would probably not consider it expensive and have a great time but once they have been to other places they would conclude that they have been ripped off in Makati.  They do have some stunners but in addition to the high prices the attitudes of the bar girls is often not good.  There are also freelances on the street but in recent times these have been reduced drastically by the police.  Only a few remain offering massage services so if its freelances you want then you can not go past Ermita.  In general Makati is there for the first time tourist and for those that have a big budget but not all the places are a rip off.  I would say it is a must visit on your itinerary and you may came away with a totally different opinion and make it your favorite destination.

Quezon City Bar Girls

There are lots of bars mostly described as KTV bars and are not really what we would describe as bikini bars.  Many do have dances its more of a show with a corriographed dance usually in costume rather than the standard bikini.  Many of the establishments are very “up-market”  and do not really target westerners.  This is not to say that you will not be welcome as they focus is on the color of your money and not your skin.  As with Makati be warned the prices can be sky high with lots of extra charges at the end.   The quality of girls in some of the bars will blow you away.  These are what the wealthier locals and visitors from other Asian countries including Japan and Korea reserve for themselves.   When compare these girls to most of the girls you will find in the EDSA complex it’s like chalk and cheese.  Most of these bars follow the same format.  A large stage where you can view the entertainment and make your selection.   The real focus is to get you into one of the VIP rooms with one or more of the girls and then the charges begin  including automatic replacement ladies drinks for the girls every 30 minutes.  Inside these VIP rooms are Karaoke machines which is what ostensibly the rooms are there for.  Many Asians go into these rooms in groups spend a lot of money and don’t get up to much mischief but it is possible to have sex in these VIP rooms and many do.  One thing a westerner will occasionally encounter is girls that don’t like us and prefer to only go with Asians.   Quezon is worth checking out and may be your things but just be careful with hidden charges.

Bar Girls in Other Areas

As I stated there are bars all over Metro Manila but most cater for locals.  Some can be comfortable and clean but the majority and sleazy dirty establishments which are generally not cheaper than the bars set up to cater for westerners.  Most popular at KTV bars which a primarily Karaoke bars where the focus is a video screen and you sing.   Many also have VIP rooms some with your own exclusive Karaoke and others just there for privacy.   You can find absolute stunners in these bars and absolute dogs with everything in between.   The places are often dirty and dingy with little or no aircon and warm beer served with ICE that may have earlier been dragged in along the ground from the street where it was delivered.  You may get to sit on plastic chairs and tables and listen to a home stereo cranked up beyond what it is cable so that it produces more painful distortion than music which the locals seem oblivious to.  The bars that feature dancing as opposed to the karaoke will generally have a single stage and a dancer will come out and dance to 2 or 3 songs.   In some of the bars especially late at night the girls will go topless or even go naked but usually briefly.  In general I would not bother with local bars but if you find yourself in the area then you can try them.  Depending on the area it would be wise to check with locals about your personal safety and if possible go with a local.  99 % of the time you will be fine but being the only foreigner in one of these places is more risky that the other places.

The biggest concentration of bar girls and bikini bars that cater to foreigners is actually located less than three few hours north of Manila in Angeles city so if its lots of bikini bars and bargirls you want then you can not go past Angeles city.  Many experienced Asian whore mongers prefer the less expensive and easier going attitude of Angeles Bar girls and skip Manila all together.  This is the location of the old Clark Air base where thousands of US servicemen were stationed.  From all reports it was wild in those days the servicemen called the bargirls LBFM which stands for Little Brown Fucking Machines.   After the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo the base was closed but the bars and girls remained and with the closure of Ermita it became the new Mecca for the Adult traveler.  Today Angeles city and the bar area called Balibago is booming but in recent years there has been an influx of Koreans which have been pushing prices up and changing the bar cultures.  Some estimates put Korean influence and presence at 50 % in 2008 and there is every reason to believe it will continue to increase.  If you want something different you can also venture down south to Cebu city where there is  a small bar scene.
